The Sega Genesis (also known as the Sega Mega Drive outside of North America) is a forth generation video game console developed by Sega and first released on the 29th of October, 1988. It is the successor to the Sega Master System and it was supported untill 1999 and became Sega`s best selling video game console. The Sega Genesis sold over 30 million units.
Sonic the Hedgehog was the best selling game on the Sega Genesis with over 15 million units sold.
It was produced from 1988 - 1999.
The Sega Genesis received two addons: Sega CD in 1991 and Sega 32X in 1994.
